March 4th Here are some happy Wednesday things: The weather report I watched yesterday before bed implied that the snow and precipitation would end by midnight.  Driving to work, around 1:00 AM, it seemed to be over, but the roads had not been plowed recently.  There was one truck that seemed to be off the road, like they missed their driveway and was slightly in a snowbank.  Thankfully, my drive to work was safe.  I'm not sure where the freezing rain came from when I parked the car.  It was definitely after midnight then.  With the temperature above 50° when I drove home, the conditions were much better.  I marched forth, determined to get some of the slush pushed out from the driveway only to get the Jeep stuck.  This time, it might stay there until the snow melts.  And so I marched forth to get ready for bed instead.  😂 The sun getting low. Corvidae noticed tire tracks in the slush that look like a heart.  Pretty neat....

That Darn Cat

Thursday February 26th Once again I fell asleep before writing, oh well.  Here are some happy things from this Thursday: At work for the first part of the night I was tasked with the job of picking packages up from the conveyor belt and putting them onto the correct rack.  There is a little more to it, but that is the main part.  It involves walking back and forth a lot.  By the end of the entire shift I had over 20,000 steps.   While eating my after work meal, Kayden decided he wanted attention.   Since I was sitting on the couch to eat I should have expected this.  Since a warm cat on my lap benefitted me, I allowed him to curl up, but refused to give him any attention until I finished eating.  🤷🏼‍♀️  He seemed okay with this arrangement.   After I ate and gave him some attention he fell asleep.  I possibly drifted off a little myself.   His asleep position at one point was a little odd. ...

More Plowing

February 23rd My intention for today is to laugh at things that I find frustrating.  Here are some happy things: Pretty white outside in the morning. There was an appointment I had this afternoon.  I decided to reschedule because of the storm.  When I told Zed this a gust of wind blew creating a momentary white out to the backyard.  We laughed at the timing.  Plowing takes a long time.  Or at least it does when there is so much snow it is hard to find a place to put it.  There is one corner that keeps giving us trouble.  I know how I will handle this next year I think.  There is too much snow and it would be a lot of work to move it this late in the season.  Anyhow, plowing is work, but it is so much kinder on my body than shoveling.  I know this for sure from shoveling out the stuck plow!  🤣🤪😂 I slid sideways into the snow bank.  It turns out I need to consider physics when plowing!  🤣  The snow is cov...

Storm Prep

February 22nd Here are some happy things from this pre-storm Sunday: Getting to my friend Stephanie's house involves an absolutely gorgeous drive.  I wasn't able to take any pictures.  The trees were dark and heavy with snow, white clouds in the sky.  It was lovely.   Stephanie and I only had a few hours for me to try on her backpacks to see if I liked them (they are much lighter than mine is) as well as go over some equipment questions.  We are going backpacking in April and this was part of the planning process.  It turns out that my heavier backpack is more comfortable for my body than either of hers.  If only it were lighter! After that productive visit I met a friend at the SCA storage area to go through the supplies and equipment we store.  We are trying to make sure things are labeled well in storage and hopefully easy to get to.  We also had a nice lunch together.   We found a box of old newsletters. This cover wa...

February 21st Intention for today:   After being awake for about four hours I was feeling like I was lacking all motivation.  Then I thought about how I had already done a few dishes, had breakfast, gotten dressed, and paced around enough to have over 3000 steps.  So what if I had fallen down some random internet research rabbit holes in the process.  It was still early in the day, things could get done.  Maybe I could set an intention for my day and that could help me be more productive in one way or another.   My goals and intentions for the day are to joyfully accomplish some of my todo list.  If the item is hard to do joyfully, find a way to rejoice or celebrate whatever progress was made toward that goal. Happy things from today: The freshly fallen snow was very pretty this morning.  The following pictures were taken close to the same time as yesterday's sunrise.  What a difference a day makes! A trip to DIY Craft & T...

Preparation

Wednesday the 11th Some happy things from today: There was another snow storm last night.  My guess is that we only got around four inches.  My youngest, Bel, went out and plowed before I had to leave for work.  I had planned to do that myself, but I didn’t plan enough time so I am doubly happy that they got some of it plowed and I was able to get to work on time.  Unfortunately, something on the plow broke so the driveway didn't get cleaned up.  I'm so thankful to not have to do much shoveling.  Bel will be fixing the plow because Bel is a handy human. We have a lot of driveway.  This is all behind the house. Snow! At work, I had another weird health thing happen.  I'm thankful that my supervisors are understanding.  At least they seem to be.  They helped me as I slowed down with what I was doing and in a little while felt fine again.   On Friday I have a routine medical procedure scheduled.  My diet has to change l...

Training Day

Image
Wednesday  Intention for the day: Be joyful/happy. Some happy things from today: It was slow again at work.  Not as slow as yesterday, but because of the snow storm, our volume still isn't where it should be.  A lot of folks went home without pay.  Some of us who didn't, got training.  I believe I have now been trained (in the computer system anyway) for everything that happens in Inbound for my pay level.  If there is more, I don't know what it is.  I imagine tomorrow they might do the in person training.  Only time will tell. During the last part of the day I was trained in doing what they call Broomstick and in doing audits.  Broomstick is basically making sure all the packages have been put onto carts to go on the trucks for delivery.  Audits are watching people work, answering questions on the computer, and coaching if necessary.  Hopefully I will get more experience with that before I forget what I learned too. After alm...

More Snow

January 26th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible.   Some happy things from today: Kayden, a cat, decided my lap was a good place to be today. Three and a half miles on the treadmill while watching a movie.  Watching movies helps me keep going on that thing.   It has been snowing off and on all day.  I'm happy we have the plow and I really hope it continues to be a good vehicle.  I plowed for a while and came in when I should have been going to bed.   End of day intention wrap up:  It was not a good day for me and being positive.  I did try, but I'm tired and a little frustrated.  It is fine.  After some venting things changed.  Sometimes, venting is important too. ☮ Continued listening to: The Lilac People , by Milo Todd. Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!

January 25th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible.  I like this one and I think I will hold on to it for a while so it becomes more of a habit. Here are some happy things from today: Today there is the beginning of a snow storm.  It is named Fern.  I must say here that Fern sounds more like a spring or summer storm than a winter one.  Anyhow, many people left the event early to avoid getting stuck in the snow.  A few others extended their stay in the area to remain safe and not travel during the storm.  The event ended much earlier than scheduled because of this.  That means my ride and I were able to leave sooner, before the snow got terribly deep.  I have not heard of anyone having any serious issues driving home.  Hopefully it will remain that way. Yesterday this room was full of vendors and shoppers.   With the deep freeze and large amounts of snow coming, Bel and Corvid...
