That Darn Cat

 Thursday February 26th

Once again I fell asleep before writing, oh well.  Here are some happy things from this Thursday:

  • At work for the first part of the night I was tasked with the job of picking packages up from the conveyor belt and putting them onto the correct rack.  There is a little more to it, but that is the main part.  It involves walking back and forth a lot.  By the end of the entire shift I had over 20,000 steps.  
  • While eating my after work meal, Kayden decided he wanted attention.   Since I was sitting on the couch to eat I should have expected this.  Since a warm cat on my lap benefitted me, I allowed him to curl up, but refused to give him any attention until I finished eating.  🤷🏼‍♀️  He seemed okay with this arrangement.   After I ate and gave him some attention he fell asleep.  I possibly drifted off a little myself.   His asleep position at one point was a little odd.

  • A package was delivered.  A few minutes later I learned that the driver was stuck in our driveway.   Some of us went out and helped them get unstuck.  The young driver recently moved here from Texas.  This was their first real snow.  I hope they were able to finish their route without further incident.   It's good to be able to help someone.  *Note to self- make sure next winter to mark the borders to be plowed before the ground freezes.  It is hard to know how wide to plow when the driveway is mostly unknown when the snow falls.  I recently looked at the drone photos from the listing to try to figure out where I could be pushing more snow.

I'm going to try to make a small change to my life habits and I'm going to attempt to bring that to my daily blog.   A recent video I saw was about habits to add to a morning to make a happier life. One of these suggestions was to start the day with an intention. That should mean something mindful or positive. It might turn into a goal for me as I tend to be practical so my mind works that way more. One intention for today was going to include getting out for a walk. As the wind blows and the temperature drops, I'm debating that. That is also more like a goal. The other was to do something different that I might not otherwise do. Birka Day Two

 January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...

My Moving Day

 January 3rd Intention for the day: to enjoy the moving process today. Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke early, only stayed under the covers a little while, and then got busy with my day.  It felt good to be motivated to get some of this stuff done.  Packing had to happen before my friends showed up to help. Friends arrived a few hours later.  I had achieved less packing than I wanted to but more than I really thought I would.  This seemed like a good position to be in.  We got most of the things loaded between the two pickup trucks.  We made good time and we got to the new house before I thought we would.  Things got unloaded and my bed put back together.  We didn't have the headboard or a few other things and went back for them after going out for a nice lunch.
