June 15th Here are some happy Monday highlights to my day: The start to my day (after trying to avoid the start for a while 😏 ) included cleaning and some unpacking.  It was a good, productive start. Somewhere around lunchtime Zed, Gideon, and I had a fascinating conversation about Star Trek and the Prime Directive.  Now I want to start watching the show again.  πŸ˜„ I ended my day with a walk that included enough deer flies, mosquitoes, and ticks that I took a shower when I got home. I'm still happy I went for the walk, maybe next time I'll remember insect repellent! πŸ˜‚ A few weeks ago I went for a walk and turned around before I wanted to because it was getting late.  Today's walk I continued along that trail.  There were other turns I could have taken. The one I chose led to places where I actually lost the trail.  Thankfully the Gaia App helped me find it again.  I should have taken more pictures.  Here are what I have: This is where I entere...

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!  Here are some happy things from today: Bel and Four cleaned up the kitchen and made me waffles for breakfast.  They were delicious.   Around lunch time, Keziah, Bel, a friend, and I all went to hike Mount Kearsarge.  There are two ways up, one from the north side and one the south.  We ended up taking the shorter hike up from Rollins State Park which is the southern one.  We did a loop with some rocky scramble up, and less scramble down.  At the top we rested and went up the fire tower.  I think we all had a good time enjoying the company and the views.  This is my 11th out of the 15 NH Fire Towers. View from the parking lot. Looking at the top. Almost the same shot a few minutes later. We had a few drops of rain, but it didn't last. We reached the top! (Photo Credit to Keziah) Group shot!  (Photo Credit to Keziah) Tower shot!  Keziah didn't do the tower and Bel had already headed down. Little waterfa...

April 11th Foothills Trail

Image
Two nights ago I wrote about the day but had no internet.  I still have no internet but I have lost that day's file.  So here is a quick April 11th from what I remember--and lots of pictures.  Stephanie and I were on trail before 8 AM and off, I think, around 4:30 PM.  Things started out well, we both felt good and made some good time (for me).  In the afternoon both the hills and the heat got worse and that is when my body was having less fun.  Soon after getting to camp, resting, and things cooling down, I felt SOO much better. On days when we are hiking I've decided that pictures are mostly better than words.  Here are some of the April 11th pictures. Possibly Carolina allspice. Mountain Laurel. Blackberry? There is a fire tower! We weren't allowed up. Trillium This trail has many bridges. Ones that are made to look like earth are some of my favorites.  Stephanie is on that kind of bridge. ☮ Finished reading: A Trail Through Time , by Jodi Tayl...

Out of Order

March 30th Here are some happy things from Monday: This morning I was up and out of the house for a dental cleaning followed by a trip to the bank.  I don't like getting my teeth cleaned, but I love how they feel when they have been cleaned. Towards the end of my day I went to the studio to work on Exchequer things with my former protΓ©gΓ©.  We made some good progress.   In the middle of my day I went for a walk on a new-to-me trail.  The house was chilly, so I still had my winter jacket on.  It didn't stay on for long though.  The beautiful spring day included temperatures in the upper 60's.  At the top of the remnants of this tree I see a woman, looking up to the sky. ☮ Currently listening to: I See You've Called in Dead , by John Kenney.
