2026 Happy Blog Challenge

 May 18th (really this time) Happy Monday!  Here are some happy things from my day: It was a beautiful morning in Maine as Stephanie and I moved our things from Silena's car to Stephanie's.  We even ate breakfast on the front steps before heading back to NH.  It was a lovely ride home and it is good to be home. View outside at Silena's house. I took a few minutes to walk around the yard and take some flower pictures. Chives. 👆Phlox👇 Lilacs. Columbine. Tulips. The shamrock flowers. Bel and I went for a lovely walk in the early afternoon.  We got to catch up, talk about genealogy, ancestry, health, and other such ‘small’ talk.   Bel and I also went grocery shopping.  We got SO much that I hope most of it lasts a while.  I love getting to spend random time with my children now that they are adults. ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T.  May 14th Some happy things from today: For some reason there were many things broken at work today.  Oddly enough, that made it a good night for me to be working in Problem Solve followed by Hazardous Materials.  Working with fun people helps too. At home I was thrilled to see even more tulips blooming in the container.  According to Google Lens there is also columbine and a sand cherry bush in the front yard.  Tulips. Columbine. Sand cherry bush. Packing was the priority after food.  Hopefully all the important stuff got packed.  Stephanie picked me up and we are now with Silena at her house.  We leave in the morning for the event which is about a six hour drive from Silena's.   ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T.  May 11th Some happy Monday things: My day started by heading to the old house to do laundry.  The dryer isn't currently working at the new house.  Getting laundry done is good.  The happy part is the one lone tulip blooming in the triangle section of the driveway at the old house.   Keziah and I set off with tasks between checking on the laundry.  One of those tasks was to glaze some of the pottery she has been making.  She let me glaze one of the vases.  It was fun to sit and talk while painting on glaze.   I dripped on purpose. There are lilacs in bloom in the city! In the afternoon I was able to meet my friend, Amy, for a walk at Livingston Park.  We go there often.  Today is the first time I remember seeing mileage markers that mark tenths of a mile.  We saw .1 and .8.  I've seen the ¼ mile marker before.  The posts don't appear to be new.  I'm feeling rather oblivious though.  😂  It was...

 Happy Mother's Day!  Here are some happy things from today: Bel and Four cleaned up the kitchen and made me waffles for breakfast.  They were delicious.   Around lunch time, Keziah, Bel, a friend, and I all went to hike Mount Kearsarge.  There are two ways up, one from the north side and one the south.  We ended up taking the shorter hike up from Rollins State Park which is the southern one.  We did a loop with some rocky scramble up, and less scramble down.  At the top we rested and went up the fire tower.  I think we all had a good time enjoying the company and the views.  This is my 11th out of the 15 NH Fire Towers.  It was a long ride all together, and we all made it home.  Here are some happy things from today: Getting up early and seeing the clouds rise from the hills again. The first home was Stephanie.  Silena and I unloaded our things into Silena's truck and she took me home.  In Stephanie's driveway we saw a baby turtle.  At home, there are new plants coming up.  One of the things about a new house is seeing the different plants that will pop up in the spring.   Here are some from today: A lonely daffodil.  April 8th Here are some happy things ranked from getting happy to happiest from today: Tomorrow I leave with friends to go backpacking in the Carolinas.  My mood is between excitement and panic.  Excitement for the trip, obviously.  The panic is two parts.  Panic over what I forgot to pack, which I won't figure out until I get there.  As well as panic over the things I wanted to accomplish before I left.  As I write this I am realizing that one of those things, finishing my quarterly exchequer report, is something I should relax about.  It isn't due until April 30th and I should be back on April 27th.  I'm missing things that I should have by then.  It will be fine.  🤪  I'm pretty sure it is ⅔ done, it's all good.  Thanks for reading that.  I feel better since writing about it!  April 6th Some happy things from today: There was a conversation with Gideon around the breakfast table about favorite words.  I don't remember his word but it was the German word for potato.  I revealed my favorite anatomy word in high school was Sternocleidomastoid.  Then started our conversation about names of bones.  It was fun. Keziah and I met at the old house to go through some boxes.  We made a lot of progress identifying which boxes go to the new house, which to the studio, and some to donate.  For some reason I thought there would be more things to donate to DIY Craft & Thrift, apparently I did most of that already.  Huh. TULIPS!! Sorry (not sorry) for my excitement over growing these inside in water. My taxes are done and sent.   In order to try to get some of the Exchequer things done I looked at spreadsheets and emails and took notes.  I also wanted to get my step count in so I walked along the driveway and around ...

Not so happy stuff first… As I write this there is a search going on in the state for an active shooter.  We are seemingly far from there, but a friend who works at DIY Craft & Thrift is not.  She is sleeping on our couch tonight.  Hopefully all will be well in the morning. Here are some happy things from today: Bel & I, with a little heavy work help from a housemate, got the wire mesh stuff under the chicken coop.  There is more to do before the chickens can stay outside, but strides were made.  In order to cut the mesh Bel and I rigged a way to hang the roll from the Baja car.  It was then super easy to measure it out. The book I am listening to, I See You've Called in Dead , is basically about someone's trials and tribulations learning how to live a fulfilling life.  I'm enjoying the story.  At one point the main character helps fulfill a friend's dream.  Then he asks a question that I will try to paraphrase and hopefully not lose ...
