2026 Happy Blog Challenge

Some happy things from the penultimate day of Pennsic for me: This morning I chopped wood.  It was fun and tiring.  I think I only asked for help once.  I got the axe stuck into the wood in a big way.  We have had the fire going all day to try to use up the firewood.  I have learned of a source for less firewood and plan to use that next year.  Oh, and it was raining off and on. A few times this week I have worn funny faced socks just for the whimsy.  Today that was the white pair.  They seemed appropriate for packing on a day where it started by raining. Gideon performed with the Youth Commedia Troupe today.  They always do such a good job.  Gideon was awesome. Other random pictures from today: The mess of breaking down. Sunset through the trees.  Happy Wednesday things: The first part of the day I had some time to fingerloop another braid.  This one for my former protégé.   It is a little late in the week, but I got it done.  I also walked around the merchant area some.   Yesterday I picked up my beads.  I looked at them today.  I received three little tokens from people while the beads were displayed. There was an Exchequer meeting in the afternoon that was informative.  There are more changes coming to the position and it is good to stay on top of that.  I brought my laptop and balanced July while the meeting happened.  As I was getting ready to close the laptop a friend came by to ask what I was doing.  He saw the Exchequer page and surprisingly said something like, ‘Wait, you were doing Exchequer stuff?’  To which I responded, “What did you think I was doing, playing solitaire? It was an Exchequer meeting, I did Exchequer stuff.”  It was a funny mome...

 Some friends have been working really hard to build a house/shop for Pennsic.  They have been merchants at Pennsic a really long time.  They finished building their house yesterday, loaded it up, and headed for Pennsic.  Somewhere around 3 hours-ish from Pennsic their car caught on fire followed by the house they just finished.  Obviously I am not at all happy about this.  What I am happy about is that the people involved are all alright. Some happy things from today: There are some great people here in camp.  We were able to set up the Common Tent, put up the shower, and I got the plumbing to the shower connected and working.  There is even hot water.  There is one part of connecting the shower that has given us problems from the beginning.  What I thought was going to fix it didn't.  With the help of power tools (Keziah and I did work at it with hand tools first) we made the holes just a little bigger and it has made a big differ...

 March 5th Here are some happy things followed by a sad thing: It was a good night/morning at work.  Communication was good, help was there when we needed it in Problem Solve, and I was able to joke around with a few people.   If you read this blog often you may have noticed that the cat Kayden seems to like jumping onto my lap for attention.  Today, for the second time, Mochi got up onto my lap.  A few days ago she was on my lap very briefly.  Anyhow, she was on my lap and I was petting her when Kayden came over and decided that there was room for him too!  They didn't stay on my lap for long.  Maybe because I laughed so loud at this silliness.  For a change, I woke up on a Thursday in time to have dinner.   There were even people who hung out in common areas and didn't just go back to their rooms to eat.  It was really nice.
