Shamrock

May 12th Happy things from a tired Tuesday: There has been a person at work that I have been trying to train in Hazardous Materials for over a month.  Today I finally was able to work with her and at least get her started with all the processes. The IronCross Shamrock Oxalis that I planted a while back have some blossoms! ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T. Kingfisher. Continued to read: No Time Like the Past , by Jodi Taylor. Glazing

Image
May 11th Some happy Monday things: My day started by heading to the old house to do laundry.  The dryer isn't currently working at the new house.  Getting laundry done is good.  The happy part is the one lone tulip blooming in the triangle section of the driveway at the old house.   Keziah and I set off with tasks between checking on the laundry.  One of those tasks was to glaze some of the pottery she has been making.  She let me glaze one of the vases.  It was fun to sit and talk while painting on glaze.   I dripped on purpose. There are lilacs in bloom in the city! In the afternoon I was able to meet my friend, Amy, for a walk at Livingston Park.  We go there often.  Today is the first time I remember seeing mileage markers that mark tenths of a mile.  We saw .1 and .8.  I've seen the ¼ mile marker before.  The posts don't appear to be new.  I'm feeling rather oblivious though.  😂  It was...

Mother's Day

Image
Happy Mother's Day!  Here are some happy things from today: Bel and Four cleaned up the kitchen and made me waffles for breakfast.  They were delicious.   Around lunch time, Keziah, Bel, a friend, and I all went to hike Mount Kearsarge.  There are two ways up, one from the north side and one the south.  We ended up taking the shorter hike up from Rollins State Park which is the southern one.  We did a loop with some rocky scramble up, and less scramble down.  At the top we rested and went up the fire tower.  I think we all had a good time enjoying the company and the views.  This is my 11th out of the 15 NH Fire Towers. View from the parking lot. Looking at the top. Almost the same shot a few minutes later. We had a few drops of rain, but it didn't last. We reached the top! (Photo Credit to Keziah) Group shot!  (Photo Credit to Keziah) Tower shot!  Keziah didn't do the tower and Bel had already headed down. Little waterfa...

Lilac

It is Saturday!  Here are some happy things: Back in 2020 we had a friend of Bel's stay with us that I called Four on the blog.  Late last night Bel came back from their trip and brought Four with them for a visit.  It was wonderful to see them both this morning.   The two of them have been busy fixing things.  I helped by doing some sanding on some of the doors that have been sticking.  One of the doors was for my bedroom.  It was fine before I went south a few weeks ago.  It was like having to break in or out since I've been back.  Now it works just fine.   There is at least one lilac tree in the yard.  Yay!  It is nice when I find plants I like growing at this new house.  I'm pretty sure there will be a bunch of iris plants too. ☮ Continued listening to:  Paladin's Grace , by T. Outside

Image
May 8th Here are some happy things from today: Tulips are blooming in the container This morning was the follow-up appointment with my endocrinologist concerning my thyroid and Hashimoto's disease.  There has been very little change and I am good for another 18 months unless I notice changes.  Yay! After getting some groceries I was going to go to the studio to work on things.  Then I realized that I should probably get my steps in first or I would be up late on the treadmill.  With that train of thought I then procrastinated getting on the treadmill.  Suddenly I realized that it is springtime and I could go for a walk!!  I went to a different part of the local town forest and walked for a half hour, then turned around and went back to the car.  It was a lovely day for being outside.  There were partly cloudy skies and temperatures were in the upper 50's/low 60's.  Here are a few pictures from the walk: Probably blueberries. Trillium Wi...

Sleepy Time

Image
May seventh  Thursdays can be long.   Here are some happy things from today: It has been a week where sleep has not been easy.  I overslept and was able to get to work at 1:20 AM–right on time.  Usually I clock in a little earlier.  It was a good, busy, fast-paced shift.  My scheduled week is over.   After work I took a nap.  I slept hard for a short time before going out to run some errands with Corvidae.  It was a sunny day and that helped make the errands better.   After errands I managed to fall asleep for a little while again.  Slowly I woke myself up by finishing a movie and finding some crock pot recipes so I can make dinner sometime.  Somewhere in there it got late and I forgot to take pictures.  Then I fell asleep again.  One might think I was tired or something... ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T. Friends

Image
The Sixth of May Here are some happy things from today: It was a day at work that I am glad I made it through.  There has to be one of those days, right?  Just one more scheduled day this week. After work I had a nice lunch with some SCA friends.  We got some Exchequer banking done and then visited over lunch.  I learned about more people that I know who are getting awards. Then we went to Keziah’s store and got joined by another SCA friend.  The store is closing this month.  Keziah is hoping to reform it as a non-profit in a few months, after some well deserved rest.  It was really nice to get to visit with friends today.   ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T. Planning

Image
The Fifth of May Some happy things from today: Lately Tuesday is when I end up scheduled in the Problem Solve Area.  It was a busy night. We ended up needing a third person to finish things up.  All in all, work was good. Corvidae came back from their trip the other day.  Today we got to sit and talk a little.  That was nice.  She brought back a neck gel cooler thing from her sister that I might need to look into for me.  The older I get, the more heat seems to bother me.  😅 Keziah wants to walk or hike on Sunday for Mother's Day.  She suggested we do a Fire Tower.  I sent her the list and it is my only picture from today.  We haven't decided which one we will do, it will partially depend on who will be joining us.  Whatever is decided, I'm thinking about getting these done again, and that makes me happy. ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T. May the Fourth

Image
May the Fourth be with you. Here are some happy things: One of the side effects of a physical is the blood test that inevitably follows.  This morning I had blood drawn and I had to fast for the test.  Eating after was wonderful.  What I am most happy about is that the phlebotomist was able to do what needed to be done on the first try.   Amy, Stephanie, another friend, and I met for a walk this afternoon.  It was a lovely day to be outside and catch up with friends.   Here are a couple things from the yard that are starting to bloom. ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T. Treading the Mill

May 3rd Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke up with a big case of I-don't-wanna!  It might be just what I needed.  Somehow, I managed to get up at least once an hour to get 250 steps in every hour from 6 AM to 3 PM.  😅  Generally that was all I did for most of the morning.  Well, and play games on my phone.  At some point I remembered to pay my mortgage.  Phew! When I finally did get going it was to do laundry and run errands.  These are two things that I am very glad I did.   Then it was time to tackle the quarter one report.  I've been working on it so much, I think I was trying to avoid it this morning.  It is done now.  It feels good for that part to be over.  During the process, I got to catch up with a friend on the phone.  I had questions about some receipts.  😂  The next step as Exchequer is to take care of some updates and balance April's bank statement. ...

Saturday

Here are some happy things from today: It took a while but the Kingdom Exchequer and I had a Google Meet and seemingly finished the quarterly report.  Then I double checked some things and ended up finding things that should be on the report.  I'll be checking even more things tomorrow.   I'm glad I checked a bunch of it again, I feel better about it now. Then I went home and got my tired self onto the treadmill.  I'm glad I did.  I'm still tired.  🙃   Over three miles! ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T. Kingfisher. May Day

Image
May 1st Happy May Day!  Today the SCA turns 61.  Here are some happy things: Much of my day seemed filled with appointments.  In truth, there were only two.  It was time for my routine thyroid imaging and general routine physical.  There always seems to be more, but so far things seem alright.  Next week are the blood tests and follow-up on today's imaging.  In between the appointments I took a walk on part of the Windham Rail Trail. One of the things I like about paved, flat trails is that they are so easy to walk on that I can do a bunch of looking around without worrying about tripping on a small stump or rock.  It was a beautiful day to be outside. Almost the entire afternoon and into the evening I worked on Exchequer things with my former protégé.  We got a bunch accomplished.  There is still more to do, but I'm learning a lot and the rest of the year should go better. ☮ Started listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T.
