2026 Happy Blog Challenge

 Happy tie-dye Tuesday things: Getting up early is not something I do often on work days.  I was up and Bel was cutting my hair before midnight.  Most of my hair is gone now.  It seems a little cooler without the length I had yesterday.  Cooler and easier to care for as I go to Pennsic this year is what I am aiming for. When I went to my car to head for work I could hear a bird.  According to Merlin, it was a barred owl.   Sorry,  it won't play, it's just a screenshot.  After work I did a tiny bit of research about the Adam's needle plant. It turns out that parts of it are edible, parts are not (roots I think), and parts are good for making cordage. I also read that part of it is good for starting fires using the bow and drill method.  Some happy Monday things: Despite the alarm going off a few times I slept in longer than usual for a Monday.  I'm sure I needed it.  My energy level was a little higher today, that was good.  A plant that I kept thinking reminded me of a yucca, has bloomed.  Apparently it is a type of yucca called Adam's needle.  I noticed it from the car as I left to do some errands.  Adam's needle Errands were run.  Bel and I worked on things for the Pennsic shower.  I have a new water softener system and we made sure to have all the pieces and Bel showed me how it all goes together.  I think we did most, if not all, of the things I wanted to check.  Yay preparing!  April 16th  Sometime in the middle of the night I woke up to see the tiny glow of a lightning bug on my tent. It was a fleeting moment, this glowing dot.  Silently it left, the bright dot got dim and larger as it flew away and disappeared.  Stairs... Possibly yucca... Much of the bridge and other destruction along the trail was caused by either the ice storm or fires. Stephanie isn't really balancing on the railing... Yay!  I made it to the car!
