Another Watch

Image
Some happy Tuesday things: It was another morning Watch shift for me with my friend Dagny.  She is also the fantastic person who is keeping me fed during this war.  Here are some Watch photos. The day was restful for me after that.  I stayed in camp for a bit and went walking around the merchant area just to look around.   In the evening was court.  Keziah and I sat near the back.  Some very deserving awards were given to people.  Here are some court pictures. ☮ Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!

GNEW Day 3

Image
July 11th Some happy Saturday things: Help was available so that I could leave the gate for a while.  There were two courts that I wanted to attend.  The first one was for the Forester's Court  During this gathering I said a version of the Forester's Oath and became a Novice Forester.   The Baronial Court was just after that.  One of my protégés was given an award.  I'm glad I had the chance to be there for these things. The gate closed around 3 PM this afternoon.  We stayed open a little later than planned.  I'm finished with that for this year and doubt I'll be asked to do it again next year, mostly because I'm far away.  It was nice to meet new people from different areas and work together with them. Instead of going to Kingdom Court I rested at camp and visited with friends.  We did some planning for Pennsic and later I wandered around the area and looked at stars.  Sunset The pathway is lit with lighted bags. Stars ☮...

Archery

May 16th Some happy things from Saturday in Canada: One of the reasons Stephanie, Silena and I drove to Canada for this SCA event is that it held the East Kingdom Royal Archery Champions Tournament.  We all competed.  Archery tournaments have fun targets to shoot at.  This year the theme was medieval games.  I did not shoot as well as I'd hoped, but it was a lot of fun. Partially because there weren't as many people participating we all qualified for the finals.  Silena did not choose to compete in the finals, Stephanie and I did.  The finals pairs shooting are head to head, if you lose, you are out.  We didn't win.  Again, it is still fun.  It takes some focus to not be anxious about how your opponent is doing.   The other reason we came to this event is that a friend was receiving an award at court and we wanted to be there to support them.   Post sunset. ☮ Continued listening to: Paladin's Grace , by T. Event Day

Image
Saturday the 28th of February  Here are some happy things from this last day of February: There were things I couldn't find this morning so I left later than I had hoped.  Arriving at the event later than I wanted was still on time though.  It was nice to see a bunch of friends.  I helped out a tiny bit at the gate (where people check in), but mostly attended court and talked with friends.  It was good to be able to sit and talk with others and brainstorm other event ideas, new treasurer rules, how to re-ignite the Cook's Guild, and more.  Their Majesties were gifted giant cookies. 👆This scroll was created on stained glass. 👇 After the event eleven of us went to a local restaurant for dinner.  We were pretty much the only people there besides the staff and the live musician.  Everyone but me (who doesn't really like food) really loved the food and want to go back there if we have an event near there again.  It was mostly barbecue, so ...

Birka Day Two

January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...
