Plants

March 31st Some happy things from March's finale: The Learning Coordinator offered myself and a coworker the opportunity to teach some Day One Employees tonight.  We both want to do it, but it will fall to whoever gets there first.  Most likely, that will not be me.  I'm the one who thought of that brilliant idea by the way.  😅  It is always nice to be considered. They aren't quite open, but I'm pretty sure the following flowers are more crocuses.  It is interesting noticing when new plants pop up. Corvidae and I started planting some lettuce and spinach.  Then I started getting ready for bed.  There are four fabric planters that I picked up a few weeks ago.  I'll find out what else (if anything) Corvidae plants today another time. ☮ Currently listening to: I See You've Called in Dead , by John Kenney. Out of Order

March 30th Here are some happy things from Monday: This morning I was up and out of the house for a dental cleaning followed by a trip to the bank.  I don't like getting my teeth cleaned, but I love how they feel when they have been cleaned. Towards the end of my day I went to the studio to work on Exchequer things with my former protégé.  We made some good progress.   In the middle of my day I went for a walk on a new-to-me trail.  The house was chilly, so I still had my winter jacket on.  It didn't stay on for long though.  The beautiful spring day included temperatures in the upper 60's.  At the top of the remnants of this tree I see a woman, looking up to the sky. ☮ Currently listening to: I See You've Called in Dead , by John Kenney.  Happy Palm Sunday! The flowers I couldn't quite identify the other day seem to be pansies.  One was much more open and easy to see today.  I could be wrong... One of today's goals was to move the chickens outside.  Since we moved in the middle of winter with a frozen, snowy ground, they have been in an out building (what I like to call the Firehouse).  Most of their coop was moved outside today.  The chickens are still inside the Firehouse, though.  Some supplies are needed that were not realized beforehand.  The big stuff got moved thanks to some folks coming by to help. The building on the left is part of the Firehouse.   That little building on the right is for the chickens.  It is far from the house. Some of the chickens. We still aren't completely moved in.  There is so much stuff.  Many boxes were moved out of a storage box and into parts of the house today.  My bed still has boxes on it for me to move before I...

Busy Saturday

March 28th Some happy Saturday things: This morning's early morning sky: A bunch of cleaning happened first thing.  Some housemates with allergies were out of the house so I took the opportunity to do some deep cleaning.  The former owners of the house left some cleaners behind that they are allergic to and I was able to finish some of that up.   Stephanie came over and we went on a nice walk in the woods.  This is the same trail system I walked on a few weeks ago.  There is much less snow and some things look a lot different.  We took a different turn and ended up walking longer than planned.  It was cold today, but nice while walking. Ice needles.  There was a No Kings protest that we attended after.  There were lots of people and some good entertainment.  I don't want to get political on my blog, but I'm happy that it is something that we are still able to do in this country. We stopped in at DIY Craft & Thrift for a fe...

Window

March 27th Here are some happy things from today: Predawn sky. A little later... Yesterday I went to bed a little later than the time I would have if I was working, but earlier than if I worked a day job.  According to FitBit I got more than nine hours of sleep!  That is a lot for me.  My energy levels could tell I was rested.  That doesn't mean I used my energy as planned.  One thing that wasn't on my list of things to do this weekend was to draw on my window.  When I opened the curtain in my room and saw the pot of gold I drew in February, I decided it was time to change things up.  It isn't the best, but I like it.  It turns out that leaning over my desk to draw on my window is a little uncomfortable.  😅  The best part is that one of my housemates noticed it when they got home today.  It is definitely bolder looking than my last piece. Every day is a new day. Two more of the six tulip bulbs I've been trying to sprout in w...

March 26th Happy Thursday things: My work week is over and I'm very happy about this.  I may pick up a short shift if one comes up, but for now I'm looking forward to the weekend.  On the way home from work I took a detour and went by our old house.  I picked up a few things and got pictures of some crocuses there that I planted in previous years.  At the new house I noticed some green and yellow in the yard by the pool.  After closer examination I found yellow flowers and some of purple ones.  After taking pictures and not having luck with a possible identification, I meant to go outside again for an even closer look, but I got distracted.  I feel like I have seen something like this and should know what they are.  However, more spring flowers!! The book that I have been listening to, Nettle & Bone , is over.  The author created a truly magical world that I very much enjoyed.  I'm considering trying more of her books.  ☮...

Cat Stuff

Here are some happy Wednesday things.: Cats tend to enjoy basking in the sun's rays.  Mochi is very content relaxing in the beams and prisms of light coming in through the beveled glass on the door.    When I awoke last night I saw that the bathroom door had an addition.  The litter box is in the bathroom so a door just for the cats was installed.   It is a cute Hobbit door! It was a beautiful day outside! ☮ Continued listening to: Nettle & Bone , by T. Tuesday!

March 24th Here are some happy things from today: Yesterday I remembered to park the van in a carport.  Today this made me very happy since I didn't need to clear the snow off my car.  There probably was less than an inch, but it makes a difference when running late for work. The crocuses look a little bit better today with the sunshine on them. My friend in Texas called and we talked for a while.  One of the things that she is great at is ending the call with at least one thing that each of us will do.  Sometimes goals for the day or week, sometimes intentions, and today it was one good thing so the conversation can end on a positive note.  My good thing was a little weird.  I have ideas to bring to work about how to help communicate the alarm system with the hearing impaired people at work. ☮ Continued listening to: Nettle & Bone , by T.  Happy Monday! It seems like this is the first Monday in a while that I have been able to spend time with Keziah.   We spent most of the morning chatting while she worked on her pottery.  Eventually I went to our studio and worked on Exchequer things.  Keziah is making some truly lovely things with pottery and it was fun to watch and occasionally hand her a tool or something. The Exchequer things didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped.  I'm not used to the programs yet.  I'm not sure if the program has changed on the SCA side, or if it is what my laptop is choosing to open the programs with.  In the end, I was able to finish one of the things that were overdue.  Phew.  Many thanks go to my former protégé for double checking some things and letting me use her printer. To finish getting in some steps I wandered around the yard at our new place, while snow flurries fell from the sky, looking for signs of spring.  I found it!  The pr...
