 Here are some happy Monday things:

  • The urge to resist anything productive was strong today.  It took a while and a bit of mind coercion, but I got the rest of my things packed and ready to go to where I will be staying for the next few weeks.  I left a few things at home that I will get tomorrow.  I’m happy to be settling into my new temporary home.
  • My Muffin Story had no forward motion today either.  I did read more of it, but no editing today.  I’m hoping to pull out sentences everyday that I like from it.  Today that is “Early on she spilled some of her coffee on her shoe.  She was determined that that moment would not shape the rest of her day.” 
  • The things I left at home mostly include things to do that aren't playing on my phone or laptop.  It turns out that after 31 days of doing artsy things, I'm not as ready to stop it as I thought.  I'm not going to carve out time like I did in October, but if I have some time, I still want to do something other than the story.  I'm happy to say that I found some larger paper to maybe do a compilation of Tangles.
  • Before putting down the shade so I can get some sleep, I took a picture of the view outside the window of my temporary new room.

Sunrise Spectacular

Some happy things from today: Since I was up in the middle of the night this morning I decided to try to be a little productive and did laundry.  I had expected to be the only one awake but I wasn't.  I'm happy that I was able to get my laundry in and out before it had an impact on any of the other ten people in the house.   A bonus for getting up early was to get to see a spectacular before-the-storm sunrise. There were other things I thought I would do today, most didn't happen.  Instead I brought Gideon to school and one of our housemates to take their driving test.  The driving test was scheduled at a DMV about an hour away.  We left early so we could practice some things before the test.  We found a mostly abandoned parking lot and practiced parallel parking.  It was a good time.  Things out of my mouth concerning our “pretend” on street parking included, “Well, you're on the sidewalk,” and “Great, but you're still half in the stree...

Back to Work

 April 28th Here are some happy things from today: Very little sleep was had by me last night, and I made it through work.  Yay!  It was tempting to leave early.  I was assigned to Problem Solve in the beginning of the shift and Broomstick at the end.  There was also a Safety Committee meeting with pizza.  Surprisingly, it was good to be back. The quarter one report for my volunteer treasurer/exchequer position is due this week.  I worked on it way too long yesterday.  Today, with fresh eyes, I got it to balance.  Yay!  There is still more to do, but I'm getting there.  I noticed a new bloom in the yard.  Google tells me that it is a rhododendron but the leaves are a lot smaller than what I'm used to. Birka Day Two

 January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...
