Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween!  Here are some happy things from today: On this final day of My Art for October I brought back the chemistry character for the Inktober prompt of ‘Flex’. The Tangle , also has a flex, ‘Roloflex’.  I saw the step-out and watched some YouTube videos about this Tangle.  There were two different techniques for creating this one.  I think they both worked for this fun Tangle.  I always see what the internet has to offer for tutorials because we all do things a little differently. Once again I spent time going through many boxes.  It was a little harder today, but, with some help from Bel, I got many of the boxes cleaned up and put into the house.  As winter draws nearer, they will be easier to go through with more detail inside.  I found two very old (in technology time) cellular phones.  I'll have to do some research I guess to figure out the best way to dispose of them.   I went to take a picture of the tree, then saw...

Friday

When I last wrote in this Blog I was falling asleep, exhausted.  I'm happy to say that I almost got ten hours of sleep last night.  I feel like I have had a fairly appropriate amount of work/play balance.  Still, I stayed up too late and I'm tired again, but the day started out with energy.  Here are some other happy things from today: After pulling myself out of bed at a reasonable hour and doing some cleaning and breakfasting I got to work on My Art for October.  Doing this in the morning I was much more awake than yesterday.  The Inktober prompt for today is ‘Cookie’.  The Tangle for today is called ‘Azura’.  The word Azure is a blue color.  I did the Tangle Azura twice and then chose to use some shades of blue to color the second one. Bel and I worked for a while going through and sorting boxes.  Somehow I keep either finding places for things or the things aren't mine.  There were seven empty boxes when we were done....

Rest Time

Here are some happy things from today: There are two different seasonal jobs that I applied for a few weeks ago.  Today was the first interview and it was for the Seasonal Safety Champion position.  I felt that the interview went well.  The other interview will be next week. My Art for October went mostly well too.  For Inktober the prompt is ‘Tusk’.  I decided to Google a picture of animals with tusks to get an idea.  Generally I will look at a picture or use my memory and imagination to do my best to try to get a sort of similar image to the one I want onto the paper.  This time I found a ‘how-to’ website and followed the directions to get the shape down.  I added some shading to the Narwhal and I like the results. The Tangle was a little complex.  I did one and decided that I made the initial grid too close together.  I started a second one and kept falling asleep.  So I stopped.  Note the little ink blotches.  ...

Bubbles

Some happy Wednesday things: While going through some things in my room yesterday I found a small bottle of bubbles.  Before going to sleep, I changed my lights to be more colorful and blew some bubbles up and took some pictures.  It was harder than it may seem to blow bubbles and take a picture of them without spilling them!  😂 'Trophy' is the Inktober prompt for today.  I sat and considered this for a bit before deciding to use the setting I used on October 19th for 'Confused'.  I'll post that again at the end, just in case you haven't seen it or forgot.   The Tangle for today is 'Bronx Cheer'.  This is another Tangle that I have learned before.  It is simple and one that can be used by itself or to hide something that may not have turned out as expected on another Tangle.  I just practised it a few ways by itself today. The Finch app gave me a reminder instead of an affirmation today.  I highly recommend doing this if you ...

Dumbbell Rabbit Hole

Image
This is my happy blog and here are some things that made me happy today: The moon was high overhead when I left for work.  There was a glorious ring around it that I think I mostly captured in the picture. After work, I remembered to do some of the things I wanted to do, I even did some of them!   The Inktober prompt for today (‘dumb') made me slightly uncomfortable.  I thought about drawing a person with their hand on their forehead like when they forget something.  🤦‍♀️ Then decided that I don't want to draw more hands.  Then I thought about dumbbells and decided to check out the etymology.  According to the internet it is from the word dumb meaning silent and the word bell as in church bell.  Apparently back in the 17th century there was a contraption built to help a person get stronger so they would be able to ring the church bells.  They used a silent bell for this exercise that was attached to ropes to work like ringing the church bel...

Still Foliage to See

My day didn't start well.  But I tried to turn it around.  It wasn't until noon that I thought about my weekend, how much sleep I didn't get, and realized why it was so hard to motivate myself.  Here are some happy things: In the afternoon I met with Amy for a lovely walk.  The temperature was in the low 70’s.  This seems way too warm for the end of October.  It was perfectly lovely though.  It smells like autumn even though the temperatures are wrong during the day. Amy ended up being late because of an accident on the highway. I started before her and I ended up walking about 1.5 miles more than I usually would at Livingston Park, but it was worth it. The different Art for October things I am doing have been fun.  Only a few more days left.  The Inktober prompt was ‘Zip’.   There were two Tangles for today?  I'm not sure what happened, but I watched a few different videos before doing them both with what seem to be the corr...

Fog, Friends, and Moon Shine

Image
Some happy things from today: It was a beautiful morning.  I left as the sun was rising and went to pick up one of my protégés.  We drove 2.5 hours to a place in Auburn, Maine where we met my other protégé and her husband for a nice breakfast.  Back in August at Pennsic I purchased each of them a gift.  Today they finally got them.  Did I take pictures of that or them? No.  Here are some pictures of the early morning evaporation rising from Winnisquam Lake though: After all that driving I wanted to go for a walk.  First, I fell asleep in a parking lot, then I found a place to go, then I got a phone call from the friend I was supposed to walk with this afternoon but I forgot!  The timing was perfect though, we made a different choice on where to walk and met there.  This is the friend I will be pet sitting for in a little over a week.  We met at Front Park in Auburn, NH.  Bjorn, the dog and I seem to be getting along fine....
