Some happy things from today:
- The thing about waking up somewhere that one doesn't live is that none of the responsibilities of home are waiting. Since I brought crafts with me I was able to do some fingerloop braiding before Amy woke up. This isn't that I couldn't do this at home, more that I could do so without the pressures of what I should be doing looming over me. Eventually it got late enough that that feeling went away, but it was nice while it lasted.
- This fingerloop braid was made different from my most previous ones. Instead of looping the yarn and tying one knot for each color, I cut the strings, tying more knots, which results in two colors for each fingerloop. This probably doesn't make much sense, but the result is that when I braid the threads all together there are large chevron shapes. When I braid them to create a split, each split is a different color. I alternated between the two types of braiding to create one cord with holes or button loops. I'm not yet sure what I will use it for. The picture didn't want to load next, so it is at the end of the Blog.
- Amy wasn't feeling well when she got up so I didn't stay as late as I would have otherwise. Since I was hoping to get a walk in before bed (I'm working a short shift tonight), I messaged Stephanie to see if she was free. She was and we met at a new-to-us place. The trails we used were nice. There were educational signs and bridges over water. At one time there had been a mill on the property. It also is located sort of conveniently for Stephanie, me, and Amy should we want to meet there another time.
