Pennsic Day Two

 Some happy Saturday things:

  • It has been a long day.  We didn't plan as well as I wanted when it came to food.  So I'm happy that there are places open on site where we were able to get food this morning.  Keziah had errands to run and brought back food for the evening.  Yay food!  We are part of a meal plan that starts tomorrow or Monday.
  • We got the awning onto our tent which provided some much needed shade.  Some of our neighbors have been clearing away brush and Gideon and I helped with that some.  We have some nice neighbors here in our little section of Pennsic. 
  • We were asked to deliver some things to Pennsic for other people.  There was something that I didn't know what it was and (should have listened better) thought it was some kind of game.  It turns out that it is a board to use to make bow strings.  Now I want one!  😂  
  • I got a picture of the moon.  A few minutes later I tried to take a picture of the sunset, but it was through a fence.



  • Four people arrived at our little encampment today.
I let that little sweat bee land for a moment.
The camera didn't want to focus and zoom in.  They tickle.

Sunrise Spectacular

Some happy things from today: Since I was up in the middle of the night this morning I decided to try to be a little productive and did laundry.  I had expected to be the only one awake but I wasn't.  I'm happy that I was able to get my laundry in and out before it had an impact on any of the other ten people in the house.   A bonus for getting up early was to get to see a spectacular before-the-storm sunrise. There were other things I thought I would do today, most didn't happen.  Instead I brought Gideon to school and one of our housemates to take their driving test.  The driving test was scheduled at a DMV about an hour away.  We left early so we could practice some things before the test.  We found a mostly abandoned parking lot and practiced parallel parking.  It was a good time.  Things out of my mouth concerning our “pretend” on street parking included, “Well, you're on the sidewalk,” and “Great, but you're still half in the stree...

Back to Work

 April 28th Here are some happy things from today: Very little sleep was had by me last night, and I made it through work.  Yay!  It was tempting to leave early.  I was assigned to Problem Solve in the beginning of the shift and Broomstick at the end.  There was also a Safety Committee meeting with pizza.  Surprisingly, it was good to be back. The quarter one report for my volunteer treasurer/exchequer position is due this week.  I worked on it way too long yesterday.  Today, with fresh eyes, I got it to balance.  Yay!  There is still more to do, but I'm getting there.  I noticed a new bloom in the yard.  Google tells me that it is a rhododendron but the leaves are a lot smaller than what I'm used to. Birka Day Two

 January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...
