Ice Cream

 June 28th

Here are some happy what-day-of-the-week-is-it things:

  • The things I wanted to get done this morning didn't.   Instead I slept and then got distracted by trying to fix the directional on the van.  Eventually Bel was able to help and together we got my left directional working.  Unfortunately something happened and now the right one doesn't.  We don't know what happened, but since the glass is broken a little on the external part, I've ordered a replacement that should be in by the end of the week.  Yay fixing things!
  • Mochi got onto Zed's shoulder.


  • There is an official Ice Cream Trail in New Hampshire this year.  I asked Bel and Corvidae to join me as I started this quest.  We visited three ice cream places!  I had a delicious maple cream ice cream at Sanctuary Dairy Ice Cream Farm.  I followed that with cotton candy ice cream, that I will probably avoid in the future, at Bubba's Bar & Grille.  The last stop was at Richardson's Farm.  Corvidae has some allergies and that was the only place she was able to get any ice cream.  I had a lovely key lime pie ice cream.  The first place also had goats and donkeys to see and pet.  It was a lovely afternoon.

  • I ended the day learning that I'll be going to Texas for a few days in July.  Gideon is flying down with Zed and back with me.  Gideon is pretty sure he will be able to fly alone on the way back, but I think this was slightly preferred.  He'll be visiting his grandfather, my ex-husband.  I'll mostly be visiting TF.  😁

Some happy things from today: Since I was up in the middle of the night this morning I decided to try to be a little productive and did laundry.  I had expected to be the only one awake but I wasn't.  I'm happy that I was able to get my laundry in and out before it had an impact on any of the other ten people in the house.   A bonus for getting up early was to get to see a spectacular before-the-storm sunrise. There were other things I thought I would do today, most didn't happen.  Instead I brought Gideon to school and one of our housemates to take their driving test.  The driving test was scheduled at a DMV about an hour away.  We left early so we could practice some things before the test.  We found a mostly abandoned parking lot and practiced parallel parking.  It was a good time.  Things out of my mouth concerning our “pretend” on street parking included, “Well, you're on the sidewalk,” and “Great, but you're still half in the stree...

Birka Day Two

 January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...

 March 26th Happy Thursday things: My work week is over and I'm very happy about this.  I may pick up a short shift if one comes up, but for now I'm looking forward to the weekend.  On the way home from work I took a detour and went by our old house.  I picked up a few things and got pictures of some crocuses there that I planted in previous years.  At the new house I noticed some green and yellow in the yard by the pool.  After closer examination I found yellow flowers and some of purple ones.  After taking pictures and not having luck with a possible identification, I meant to go outside again for an even closer look, but I got distracted.  I feel like I have seen something like this and should know what they are.  However, more spring flowers!! The book that I have been listening to, Nettle & Bone , is over.  The author created a truly magical world that I very much enjoyed.  I'm considering trying more of her books.  ☮...
