Some happy things from today:

  • It is 6:45 AM.  I have been tree for just under 24 hours mostly helping with clearing out the store.  Zed has relieved Gideon and I from helping out more… and I forgot to take a picture.  Suffice it to say that we didn't finish as early as I'd hoped.  Getting some much needed sleep is a happy thing.
  • What I did take pictures of are the close to half full moon.  One around 1:45 AM and one around 5:11 AM.

  • Around 10 AM I woke up, realized I left laundry in the washing machine at the old house, and decided to unpack the van and check on Zed before tending to my laundry.  On my way outside I saw that someone had unloaded the van for me.  It had Keziah’s plants in it so I had left it open for the plants to get air.  It was kind for house members to unload it for me.  When I got to town and headed to the store I got a group message asking for help.  I responded that I would be there in a minute and surprised everyone by being there in a minute!  :)
  • Zed had accomplished a lot, but there was more to do.  Keziah and friends rallied as many people as they could and we were able to get it done.  This time, I remembered to take a picture.

The store is empty. 
To be clear, I'm not happy about the store closing, but I know it had to happen.
I'm happy that this part of the process is done.

  • At one point driving along the driveway I took a picture of the geranium plants that are all starting to bloom.  

  • Here are some of the random things I found while cleaning the store.
Because everyone needs a red trapezoid!

Some happy things from today: Since I was up in the middle of the night this morning I decided to try to be a little productive and did laundry.  I had expected to be the only one awake but I wasn't.  I'm happy that I was able to get my laundry in and out before it had an impact on any of the other ten people in the house.   A bonus for getting up early was to get to see a spectacular before-the-storm sunrise. There were other things I thought I would do today, most didn't happen.  Instead I brought Gideon to school and one of our housemates to take their driving test.  The driving test was scheduled at a DMV about an hour away.  We left early so we could practice some things before the test.  We found a mostly abandoned parking lot and practiced parallel parking.  It was a good time.  Things out of my mouth concerning our “pretend” on street parking included, “Well, you're on the sidewalk,” and “Great, but you're still half in the stree...

Birka Day Two

 January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...

 March 26th Happy Thursday things: My work week is over and I'm very happy about this.  I may pick up a short shift if one comes up, but for now I'm looking forward to the weekend.  On the way home from work I took a detour and went by our old house.  I picked up a few things and got pictures of some crocuses there that I planted in previous years.  At the new house I noticed some green and yellow in the yard by the pool.  After closer examination I found yellow flowers and some of purple ones.  After taking pictures and not having luck with a possible identification, I meant to go outside again for an even closer look, but I got distracted.  I feel like I have seen something like this and should know what they are.  However, more spring flowers!! The book that I have been listening to, Nettle & Bone , is over.  The author created a truly magical world that I very much enjoyed.  I'm considering trying more of her books.  ☮...
