Preliminary--EDIT for photos

 

EDITED TO ADD PHOTOS... now that I am back in the United States.

May 15th

Here are some happy things from this travel and set up day:

• We left before the leave-by-7AM time that we had planned.  Which was great since I forgot to close the door to Silena's house and we had to turn around.  We were still on the road before 7 AM even with my rather large oops.  We followed that with breakfast at a local diner, some last minute items at the grocery store and a full tank of gas.  The expected travel time was around six hours. 
• One of the stops we made along the way was at a scenic viewing area for Mount Katahdin.  The top was hidden by clouds and still it is so much taller than the surrounding area.  A few weeks ago we traveled south and experienced an early spring.  Now, we traveled north and have been watching spring disappear.  There is still snow on Mount Katahdin and the leaves on the trees seem to be getting smaller and smaller as we traveled north to New Brunswick.

• After getting to the event site, setting up, and eating I visited with some other friends.  One of them is one of my newer protégés.  She lives in Canada.  I also attended a Forester's meeting.  I keep trying to join the Forester's Guild and things keep getting in the way.  Tomorrow that might change.
