Happy things from Sunday!

  • At the event this morning we eventually went to shoot archery only to find that we weren't the only ones that didn't get an early start.  I tried to help clean some things up so the archery range could open, but mostly paced the field looking for lost arrows.  I took some time to use my Merlin app to help identify some of the birds singing in the nearby trees.  According to the app, there were some warblers and an ovenbird.  I was not able to see them.  With all my pacing, I did find someone's lost arrow.
  • When the range opened I did some archery practice.  I decided to do one more round at the 40 yard target, if my score was good, I'd stay and do a Royal Round, if not, I'd go pack.  I scored eleven points.  For me, that is good.  I finished the Royal Round with a total score of 52.  For me, that is okay.  Over the last year my average score was 55.  More practice will be good.

  • We packed up and made the long ride back to Silena's house.  We got back after dark.  I was able to watch a sliver of the moon set as we traveled.  Silena was kind enough to take us to a field near her house to try and get a picture.  The camera didn't capture it well.

Mountain in the distance-- maybe Mount Katahdin?

The moon is the orange spot on the horizon.
