Dishwasher

It has been 45 years to the day that I got my driver's license.  It was an eventful Friday the thirteenth in 1981.  My apologies if you have heard this story before. As I was preparing to back out of my spot with the state driving tester guy, an eighteen wheeler entered the parking lot, not fast, and couldn't make the turn.  He drove into the state vehicle that was parked in the aisle behind me.  Honestly, I don't think the truck was in the right place.  The state guy was not happy.  I still got my license though, so I was.  To celebrate, I didn't drive today, at all.  I stayed home and took turns being productive and restful.  Here are some other happy things:

  • When we moved into this new house we were told that the dishwasher in the main kitchen leaked.  The water was off and we were busy moving so we didn't look into it more, until today.  Bel worked hard to pull the machine out from under the counter.  It was installed under the floor tile.  They figured something out and looked behind.  Nothing was obvious.  They did a few quick turnings of the water on/off/drain and nothing seemed to leak.  Then an entire empty cycle, still no apparent leaks.  The next step is physically cleaning the dishwasher and filters.  Having two working dishwashers in a house with eleven people will be a welcome change.
The struggle was real.

  • A few days ago we had windows open and turned off the heat in some of the zones.  There we noticed that one of those zones was getting kind of cold.  Checking to see if maybe the heat just wasn’t turned back on revealed dead batteries in the thermostat.  Putting in new batteries didn't help.  There was a bunch of trouble shooting including pulling thermostat panels from other zone areas and switching it with the one that didn't work.  After we had given up on getting the broken one to work, I went in and cleaned the battery compartment.  One of the batteries had started to corrode and the connection was dirty.  I fixed it.  Go, me!
