Deer Tracks

 Tuesday 

With so much going on, I've decided no intentions for the rest of the week.  

Here are some happy things from today:

  • Tuesdays mean I was back at work!  Now that I am closer to work, I mess up on timing and I keep thinking I have more of it, then I am running late.  It is a weird game I need to stop playing with my brain.  😅  After getting there a couple minutes later than I would have liked, they scheduled me to unload packages.  I'm so thankful that I was only there for a short amount of time.  Then they moved me to Problem Solve.  Other than being super busy, work went alright.  
  • Walking into the house after work I noticed some footprints in the snow.  I thought maybe one of the dogs got out of the fenced area.  Nope, deer tracks!  There are five acres here, much less than the 13-14 we had at the old house.  There are also hiking trails nearby and what seems to be a good amount of woods.  I look forward to exploring them.


  • After a short nap I had some energy so I installed the locking doorknob I purchased a few weeks ago.  I'm not sure how often it will be locked, but now I have the option.  The former doorknob could lock, but with no keys I can't leave the house and lock my room.  This isn't about keeping my housemates out of my room, it is about keeping their friends, who I don't know, out of my room.  🤷🏼‍♀️ 

  • There is a New Hampshire shaped rock in the Firehouse Building.  I'm calling it the Firehouse because it is where the previous owners kept the fire trucks.  Currently it is where we are keeping the chickens!

  • This picture 👇 was taken just a few minutes after official sunset time.

 You found it! January 1st. Welcome to a new year of me looking for happiness and gratitude within my day. Thank you for being here. I'm going to try to make a small change to my life habits and I'm going to attempt to bring that to my daily blog.   A recent video I saw was about habits to add to a morning to make a happier life. One of these suggestions was to start the day with an intention. That should mean something mindful or positive. It might turn into a goal for me as I tend to be practical so my mind works that way more. One intention for today was going to include getting out for a walk. As the wind blows and the temperature drops, I'm debating that. That is also more like a goal. The other was to do something different that I might not otherwise do. Birka Day Two

 January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...

My Moving Day

 January 3rd Intention for the day: to enjoy the moving process today. Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke early, only stayed under the covers a little while, and then got busy with my day.  It felt good to be motivated to get some of this stuff done.  Packing had to happen before my friends showed up to help. Friends arrived a few hours later.  I had achieved less packing than I wanted to but more than I really thought I would.  This seemed like a good position to be in.  We got most of the things loaded between the two pickup trucks.  We made good time and we got to the new house before I thought we would.  Things got unloaded and my bed put back together.  We didn't have the headboard or a few other things and went back for them after going out for a nice lunch.
