Urgencies...

 January 20th

Intentions for the day:  Be joyful/happy and try to learn a coworker's name.

Soon after I got home from work things that were not so happy happened.  One of those things was Gideon breaking a tooth.  As I prepare to get some sleep he is at the dentist with his mom.  Anyhow, here are some happy things from today:

  • When I left for work I looked up at the stars.  I was in a bit of a hurry, partially just because it was really cold in the middle of the night.  The stars looked different than they do from the old house, less than three miles from here.  I'm curious how much of this is my imagination/brief amount of time and how much is the direction I was looking.  One of these days I'll take more time and really look.  🤩
  • On the way to work an owl flew in front of my car.  That was cool and a little startling.
  • Last night I didn't sleep well.  As I write this I have Mochi the Cat in my room.  I'm doing everything I can to stay awake so I finish writing.  I'm hoping to snuggle with Mochi momentarily as I fall into a deep and restful sleep.


End of day intention wrap up: There were no new names learned. I did try to be happy and smile and greet people as I passed them. I tried to listen for names and read nametags.  🤷🏼‍♀️

 You found it! January 1st. Welcome to a new year of me looking for happiness and gratitude within my day. Thank you for being here. I'm going to try to make a small change to my life habits and I'm going to attempt to bring that to my daily blog.   A recent video I saw was about habits to add to a morning to make a happier life. One of these suggestions was to start the day with an intention. That should mean something mindful or positive. It might turn into a goal for me as I tend to be practical so my mind works that way more. One intention for today was going to include getting out for a walk. As the wind blows and the temperature drops, I'm debating that. That is also more like a goal. The other was to do something different that I might not otherwise do. Writing an intention down before my day starts and trying to follow-through will be part of this. I hope you join me as I attempt to build this new habit. Birka Day Two

 January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...

My Moving Day

 January 3rd Intention for the day: to enjoy the moving process today. Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke early, only stayed under the covers a little while, and then got busy with my day.  It felt good to be motivated to get some of this stuff done.  Packing had to happen before my friends showed up to help. Friends arrived a few hours later.  I had achieved less packing than I wanted to but more than I really thought I would.  This seemed like a good position to be in.  We got most of the things loaded between the two pickup trucks.  We made good time and we got to the new house before I thought we would.  Things got unloaded and my bed put back together.  We didn't have the headboard or a few other things and went back for them after going out for a nice lunch.
