Hot Rocks

 January 7th

Intention for the day: Same as yesterday…As I go through my work day it is my intention to learn someone's name I don't already know.  I also intend to do my best to keep a happy attitude throughout.

Here are my happy things from today:

  • There is one weird thing that I have forgotten both mornings this week while getting ready for work.  That one thing is to put on a belt.  Other than that, day two of getting out of the house and to work on time was a success. There was snow again last night, just a little bit.  So far I am pleased with the road conditions from the new house to work as well.
  • These two cats like my room too much!  I try to not let them in, but they get in when I go in or out.  Then I leave the door open so they can leave.  I'll have to put them out in a few minutes so I can sleep.  They look so comfy.

  • Since I was a little kid I have enjoyed looking at rocks.  I probably should have studied them.  I have a few that I have collected over the years.  Some I've found, some just appeared, some inherited.  I've taken some of the smaller ones and set them on top of the radiator.  I'll be doing this with all the smaller ones I think.  I like how they look, I also like that if the timing is right, I can pick up a warm rock to hold in my cool hands.

End of day intention wrap up:  Today I worked across from someone and learned their name!  It helped that I also worked across from the person I generally sit with on break and he didn't know the other person's name either.  I think I was also able to keep a happy attitude for most of the shift.  Towards the end, I had what I think was an anxiety attack hit me like a train (exaggeration).  It was different from what I have experienced in the past and it has been a while.  Anyway, it put me out of commission for a little bit, but laughing about it helped.  Perhaps having nice people to talk it through with was the best part.  With that in mind, we have something called a ‘Shout Out’ that I can virtually send teammates.  I sent the two people who helped me with this, Shout Outs.

Continued listening to:  Ghost Flower, by William F Merck II.

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
