DIY Bag Sale

Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible.

Some happy things from today:

  • Since sleep was weird, I was awake in the wee hours of the morning (normal work hours).  That is when I wrote Thursday's blog.  It is also when I decided to clean out my closet.  Of course, I didn't do that right away, I played on my phone.  I took my time, emptied out all but the very top shelf of my closet and rearranged things.  When I moved into the room last month, some things just got put in there to get them out of the way.  Those things are out, clothes and things I want in there, are in.  Yay!
  • Someone dressed Mochi up.  
What I didn't get a picture of was the look on her brother Kayden's face. He stood at the top of the stairs peeking around the corner at her like, who's that?

  • In the afternoon I went to DIY Craft & Thrift to help with the bag sale there today and tomorrow.  I put things on the floor and some of them were gone 30 minutes later.  At one point I heard a little girl, maybe four or five years old, ask their adult, “Can we go home and craft now?”  That made me smile.  I was told that someone came in early in the day and just filled their bag with everything from some of the shelves. I don't get to the store often so it was good to go help.
  • At home the chickens have been having a hard time adapting to the new place and the cold.  Two of them are in the house tonight after being cleaned.  They shouldn't go back outside, damp, in this weather.  The reactions and curiosity from the cats has been fun to watch.

End of day intention wrap up:  Today this looked like saying no to a friend about finding  more stuff while complimenting all the things that they helped me find last time.  There were other things too, but that one sticks out.

I'm going to try to make a small change to my life habits and I'm going to attempt to bring that to my daily blog.   A recent video I saw was about habits to add to a morning to make a happier life. One of these suggestions was to start the day with an intention. That should mean something mindful or positive. It might turn into a goal for me as I tend to be practical so my mind works that way more. One intention for today was going to include getting out for a walk. As the wind blows and the temperature drops, I'm debating that. That is also more like a goal. The other was to do something different that I might not otherwise do. Writing an intention down before my day starts and trying to follow-through will be part of this. I hope you join me as I attempt to build this new habit. Birka Day Two

 January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...

My Moving Day

 January 3rd Intention for the day: to enjoy the moving process today. Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke early, only stayed under the covers a little while, and then got busy with my day.  It felt good to be motivated to get some of this stuff done.  Packing had to happen before my friends showed up to help. Friends arrived a few hours later.  I had achieved less packing than I wanted to but more than I really thought I would.  This seemed like a good position to be in.  We got most of the things loaded between the two pickup trucks.  We made good time and we got to the new house before I thought we would.  Things got unloaded and my bed put back together.  We didn't have the headboard or a few other things and went back for them after going out for a nice lunch.
