Birka Day One

 January 23rd

Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible.

Some happy things from today are:

  • Somehow I got myself up and ready to go with time to spare.  Enough time that I got the dishwasher loaded and turned on before my friend came to pick me up for the event.
View from the hotel window.
I'm very thankful that a friend offered to share their room with me.  I could have driven back and forth, but now I don't have to.

  • At the event I tried to help out where I could.  There were things to set up, people to give things to, and my favorite–hugs.
Her new loom with some gorgeous carving.

Her new coronet.  There is a rose, dragonfly and some Celtic knotwork on there.

  • There was a court where some fabulous people were given awards for things they do.  Two of those people I babysat when they were much younger.

  • After court my former Protégé, and I took on new protégés.  She took one protégé and I took on two.  I'm looking forward to working with these two people and helping them grow in the SCA.

End of day intention wrap up:  As I reflect on my day I feel it went well.  I tried to stay positive where I could.  It helps that I'm at an event and things seem to be going well.

Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!
