Plans Changed

Saturday Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Today, these things made me happy: Sunrise This morning I set out to get to DIY Craft & Thrift by ten this morning.   It was only a few minutes after that, so that was good.  A cousin and aunt were expected and I wanted to be there when they arrived.  It was wonderful to see them.  I also saw a coworker there today.  Apparently his girlfriend frequents DIY and he was along for the ride today.  The store was busy and even more things from the back room made it to the sales floor.  I didn't take any pictures before, but here is a picture of how it looked when I left. Many of the containers have Christmas stuff in them. Look at all the empties! In the afternoon I was supposed to go ice skating with two teens.  Unfortunately, I missed that the end of the skate rental time was four o'clock and we got there just before then.  Instead w...

DIY Bag Sale

Friday Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Some happy things from today: Since sleep was weird, I was awake in the wee hours of the morning (normal work hours).  That is when I wrote Thursday's blog.  It is also when I decided to clean out my closet.  Of course, I didn't do that right away, I played on my phone.  I took my time, emptied out all but the very top shelf of my closet and rearranged things.  When I moved into the room last month, some things just got put in there to get them out of the way.  Those things are out, clothes and things I want in there, are in.  Yay! Someone dressed Mochi up.   What I didn't get a picture of was the look on her brother Kayden's face. He stood at the top of the stairs peeking around the corner at her like, who's that? In the afternoon I went to DIY Craft & Thrift to help with the bag sale there today and tomorrow.  I put things on th...

Odd Day

Image
Thursday Intention for the day: Be joyful/happy. Here are my happy things from Thursday: It was an odd day at work.  Problem Solve had a disproportionate number of problems compared to how many packages came into the building.  At one point there were some empty boxes and some loose products that had nothing to do with each other.  Like another building gave us their problems to solve!  Anyhow, we needed extra staffing to get it all done.  With some teamwork, we did.   Yay!   At home I was asked if I could pick up a housemate after school.  I was able to and I got to start having a good conversation with them.  They have asked me to help teach them to drive a manual transmission vehicle.  I look forward to that, but I fell asleep today. Sleep.  I had intended to take a nap, get up for a little while and then go back to sleep for the night.  Which I sort of did, only I ended up allowing the cats into my room....

Training Day

Image
Wednesday  Intention for the day: Be joyful/happy. Some happy things from today: It was slow again at work.  Not as slow as yesterday, but because of the snow storm, our volume still isn't where it should be.  A lot of folks went home without pay.  Some of us who didn't, got training.  I believe I have now been trained (in the computer system anyway) for everything that happens in Inbound for my pay level.  If there is more, I don't know what it is.  I imagine tomorrow they might do the in person training.  Only time will tell. During the last part of the day I was trained in doing what they call Broomstick and in doing audits.  Broomstick is basically making sure all the packages have been put onto carts to go on the trucks for delivery.  Audits are watching people work, answering questions on the computer, and coaching if necessary.  Hopefully I will get more experience with that before I forget what I learned too. After alm...

Storm Remnants

Tuesday, January 27th Intention for the day: Be joyful/happy. Some happy things from the day after a storm: Somehow I made it to work on time. I woke up on time, I just couldn't drag myself out of bed. Then I got the van stuck in the driveway. The roads were just okay. Everything had obviously been plowed and salted, but the wind was blowing snow from the storm back onto the street. Still, driving cautiously was all I had to do. And I still made it to work on time. Because of the storm, things at work were slow. Things were so slow the management chose to have karaoke time after our midshift break. My task was Problem Solving though. I watched a couple people sing karaoke and then went back to work. I could still hear them singing. That was probably a good choice because both Problem Solve and Hazardous Materials were emptied of items by the time I left. I even had time to restock the empty boxes.  At home I had a phone call with my friend in Texas. We had a love...

More Snow

January 26th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible.   Some happy things from today: Kayden, a cat, decided my lap was a good place to be today. Three and a half miles on the treadmill while watching a movie.  Watching movies helps me keep going on that thing.   It has been snowing off and on all day.  I'm happy we have the plow and I really hope it continues to be a good vehicle.  I plowed for a while and came in when I should have been going to bed.   End of day intention wrap up:  It was not a good day for me and being positive.  I did try, but I'm tired and a little frustrated.  It is fine.  After some venting things changed.  Sometimes, venting is important too. ☮ Continued listening to: The Lilac People , by Milo Todd. Thank you for being here and being part of my daily happy things. Stay safe!

January 25th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible.  I like this one and I think I will hold on to it for a while so it becomes more of a habit. Here are some happy things from today: Today there is the beginning of a snow storm.  It is named Fern.  I must say here that Fern sounds more like a spring or summer storm than a winter one.  Anyhow, many people left the event early to avoid getting stuck in the snow.  A few others extended their stay in the area to remain safe and not travel during the storm.  The event ended much earlier than scheduled because of this.  That means my ride and I were able to leave sooner, before the snow got terribly deep.  I have not heard of anyone having any serious issues driving home.  Hopefully it will remain that way. Yesterday this room was full of vendors and shoppers.   With the deep freeze and large amounts of snow coming, Bel and Corvid...

Birka Day Two

January 24th Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Here are some happy things from today: Much of the early part of my day was spent volunteering at the event.  I also attended a meeting for exchequers (treasurers).  There is a possibility that I will be doing that again. I got to spend a little bit of time with my new protégés.  They both know that I want them to update their information on their wiki pages.   I ended up having a lot of fun with a friend who tried to steal a French fry from me.  It became a lovely game of trying to get a snack without the other noticing.  During court this afternoon some wonderful people were given awards for their deeds.  One of these people is a dear friend and the current Seneschal of our Barony.  He was made a Member of the Order of the Mark.  This is a new peerage level award in the SCA.  Here is a link that describes the current peer ...

Birka Day One

January 23rd Intention for the day: Look for the positive/proactive side in all the exchanges possible. Some happy things from today are: Somehow I got myself up and ready to go with time to spare.  Enough time that I got the dishwasher loaded and turned on before my friend came to pick me up for the event. View from the hotel window. I'm very thankful that a friend offered to share their room with me.  I could have driven back and forth, but now I don't have to. At the event I tried to help out where I could.  There were things to set up, people to give things to, and my favorite–hugs. Her new loom with some gorgeous carving. Her new coronet.  There is a rose, dragonfly and some Celtic knotwork on there.  There was a court where some fabulous people were given awards for things they do.  Two of those people I babysat when they were much younger.   After court my former Protégé, and I took on new protégés.  She took one protégé and I to...
